SUSTAINABILITY AND COMPLIANCE
Supporting sustainability goals and compliance requirements
Implementing long-lasting positive change by accelerating the transition to a circular economy
Sustainability
Jayplas help businesses:
- Transition to the circular economy, supporting net zero targets across the entire plastics value ‘cycle’, working closely with them wherever they are on their sustainability journey, and ensuring circular design, production, use and waste management.
- Meet their sustainability goals by offering sustainable plastic packaging recycling solutions, reducing plastic waste ending up in landfill, and reducing the use of virgin plastics in packaging by producing high-quality, safe, recycled plastic alternatives.
Jayplas facilities have the capacity and resources to provide a consistent and reliable supply chain, meeting customers’ demands throughout the entire plastic supply chain from SMEs to blue-chip customers. We work closely with customers to meet sustainability goals, from plastic waste streams to the production of recycled products.
Compliance
Jayplas in-house compliance team and the external independent advisors we work with, support businesses to find solutions to comply with plastic packaging laws, including:
- Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) targets through guidance on EPR targets and the changes in the guidance on EPR
- Plastic packaging tax requirements (min. 30% recycled content by weight) by producing high-quality recycled plastic polymers and plastic packaging with recycled content ready to replace virgin plastic.
Jayplas continually invest and innovate to ensure compliance with regulations that govern us .We are also independently audited to ensure we comply and work within environmental best practice guidelines. These audits include EuCertPlast RecyClass , BRCGS , SafeContractors’, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
We are members of SEDEX.
Document Portal
Working in an ever-changing, technically, and regulatory complex industry that demands rigorous standards, transparency is important to Jayplas to reassure our customers that our products meet quality, environmental and regulatory standards.
On the Jayplas document portal, you can find copies of our operating permits and other relevant documents.
Recycling and Manufacturing Facilities
Jayplas is a leading innovator at the forefront of plastic recycling in the UK. We continually invest in our multiple plastic reprocessing facilities in the UK.
At Jayplas, we work hard to improve efficiency, increase yields, and embed the latest energy-saving initiatives. We reduce our environmental impact by harnessing innovative systems, up-to-the-minute technology, and adopting new practices.
Jayplas use the most sophisticated systems to monitor the performance of our processes, ensuring minimal impact on the environment while producing products of constantly high quality, ready to be used back into the plastic supply chain.
Closed-loop plastic recycling solutions
Jayplas help businesses transition to the circular economy, working closely with you wherever you are on your sustainability journey, ensuring circular design, production, use and waste management.
The Jayplas methodology – closing the loop to make plastic sustainable
Collection
Jayplas internal dedicated logistics team and own vehicle fleet offer a prompt collection of post-consumer and post-commercial plastic packaging while keeping journeys to a minimum to reduce our carbon footprint.
Sortation
Jayplas plastic recovery facilities within the UK handle rigid and flexible plastic packaging (including complex multilayer films), segregating mixed plastic polymer bales into single plastic polymer bales.
Recycling
Based on plastic polymer type (HDPE, LDPE, PET, PP), we transfer sorted materials to one of our technologically advanced reprocessing facilities, where we produce high-quality recycled polymers capable of replacing virgin polymers in food-grade or non-grade packaging.
Manufacturing
Jayplas use the recycled plastic polymer flakes and pellets produced in our UK facilities to manufacture flexible packaging on rolls, e.g., plastic shopping bags, bags for life, e-commerce bags, collection bags, refuse sacks, industrial shroud covers, etc., working with customers to meet their specifications.
We also manufacture food-grade PET films for use within the UK food packaging industry.
Supply Chain
Jayplas' multiple facilities mean we have the capacity and resources to provide a consistent and reliable supply chain of recycled plastic in various polymers as a material to use in manufacturing plastic products and provide plastic packaging with up to 100% recycled content, meeting demands of SMEs to blue-chip customers.
Working alongside the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and its members to support 4 key targets
- Eliminate problematic or unnecessary single-use packaging through redesign, innovation or alternative (reuse) delivery model
- 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
- 70% of plastic packaging is effectively recycled or composted.
- 30% average recycled content across all plastic packaging.
